Buddying to GoGlobal – National Museum Visit

发布时间:2018-12-07 15:28:43

China has a long history, from preserved documents and artifacts from ancient China, to recent, impressive developments in modern culture.

Visiting museums is one of the ways to explore this history.

Visits to the National Museum of China were conducted the past 2 weekends by Tsinghua’s GoGlobal Association and the International Buddy Program, respectively.

In total, over a hundred international and local students participated.

“You have modern China and ancient China, both in the same place.”

Students were able to understand the history and culture of China, as well as the development and implementation of technologies in recent years.

The Go Seeking Tour, put on by the GoGlobal Association, aims to equip students with a cultural context that is increasingly important for facilitating global competency.

The GoGlobal Association strives to improve cross-cultural understanding, promote global integration and the harmonious coexistence of diverse societies on campus.

The focal point of this event was the exhibition on “Understanding 40 years of China’s Open Reform.”

Students also enjoyed making friends from all kinds of backgrounds.

It was very interesting to share some of my understanding of China to my buddy.

The International Buddy Program was set up to promote cross cultural communication by providing opportunities for local and international students to interact and exchange ideas with each other.

International students can sign up for the program before arriving in Tsinghua and will then be assigned a local buddy, who is especially helpful when international students first settle in.

The pair can then join all kinds of activities together, and build a cross-cultural understanding and friendship.

I have never had a deep understanding of China’s reform and opening up before the visit.

During the visit, my buddy could tell me something even more about China’s politics, the presidents and how they opened up the country.

Some of the exhibitions included Ancient China and “The Road of Rejuvenation”.

Janice, a Dutch student on the Chinese language program found the history of Chinese money particularly intriguing.

It was interesting to see the development of Chinese Money and how it changed over the years.
